Weddings and Water Fights

What a weekend {which was more than a few days ago…}. I have to say that I absolutely love the month of July. The fourth is on of my favorite holidays for sure but there is a special place in my heart for the 24th. I am so grateful for my pioneer ancestors and the sacrifices they made all those years ago, so that my family and I could live with our values and beliefs, here in Utah.

Kristie and Todd’s wedding turn out really nice{last post}. It was a simple wedding and reception but it was still beautiful. I have to admit, while I’m nowhere near ready to be married… it kinda made me wish my day would get here sooner, haha.

Every year my family and the Wagstaff’s throw a 24th of July party for our neighborhood. Last years was a blast (read about it here, or just scroll down), and this years was just as fun although it was significantly smaller. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take as many pictures as last time because my camera ran out of juice and I couldn’t find the charger. However it was pretty much the same as last year. Water fight in the afternoon. Cotton candy, popcorn, and Snow cones to boot.  After everyone has time to change and relax for a minute, there is a Barbeque. I love summer because of all the BBQ’s.
{Note: Chileans do BBQ’s like no other. Not just hotdogs and hamburgers, oh no, but hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, steak, sausages, basically anything you can grill. That’s our idea of a party!}
After the bbq we had an outdoor movie on a giant blow up screen. So much fun, but the mosquitoes here in Lehi are the size of bats so that kind of dampened the spirit. But only a tiny little bit. Even though there weren’t as many people there as last year, it was still a good time.

I'm me, I swear!

So I had a funny experience this morning…

Last night I got a couple of text messages from a phone number that I didn’t know, but by the time I realized it, it was too late to text them back. Sooo… this morning I text them asking who they were and they were like “its me **Veronica” {**Names have been changed} Well I knew a **Veronica from Nashville, so I ask if she had changed her phone number… and this is where it gets confusing. It turns out that this person thought that I was **Veronica, because the real **Veronica had given them my number. I’m not sure if she wrote her number down wrong or if she just didn’t want to give out her real number so she gave out some random number, and I just happened to be the lucky winner… Anyways for the better part of an hour, I had to convince this person that I was not **Veronica messing with them, but that I was in fact me, Michelle. Did any of that make sense? I have never had to prove that I was me to someone else before. It was kind of funny.

On another note…

I went shopping to see if I could find a dress for my cousins wedding tomorrow. It took me forever! I couldn’t believe how hard it was to find a dress that not only fit me right, but that was long enough. I think it is so sad that you literally have to search for hours to find a cute modest dress these days. I finally found one that I like but I’m worried because it’s a Maxi dress (floor length), and living in Utah summer gets really hot. Because I can’t go inside the temple yet, I will be outside all day and I don’t want to be too hot. Thank heavens the dress is made out of a “flow-y”, breezy fabric. Gauzy if you will. I thinks it pretty so it should work nicely!

Stay tuned because this Saturday is the annual 24th of July party. More water fights, treats, friends, FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Here's To New Beginnings

Ok so it has been a while. Understatement of the year! Speaking of… it has almost been a whole year. As much as I would love to fill you in on everything that has happened, there isn’t enough space or time… so let’s just forget about my horribly emotional year and move on ok? Fine, fine maybe I’ll tell you, but later.

Anyways, it’s been a pretty busy summer but you’ll have to read my internship blog here to know what I’ve been up to. For those of you who don’t have time at the moment here a quick {really quick} run through. I survived the school year and then moved to Nashville for an Interior Design internship. It was so incredible and I can’t wait to move back.

Well now that I’m back home, let just say things have been tough. Today I realized that a lot of it is all in my attitude and I need to make a few changes if I want to be happy. In Tennessee I was so happy and tried so hard to positive, but for some reason it all went away once I got home. Well I WANT IT BACK! So here’s what I’m gonna do:

Get motivated {still working on that, I’ll let you know how it goes}
Get Healthy {I want to lose some of my gain, if you know what I mean. Exercise… definitely need that. Good healthy food: the family I lived with while in Tennessee ate so healthy and I kinda miss it}
Get Spiritual{I will admit I haven’t been reading my scriptures lately and that’s probably why I have been feeling so…frustrated lately, I need to make sure that I read my scriptures, say my prayers, etc every day. I think this will help me feel better}
Get Balance{So I’m not very good at money. Second understatement of the year. Hopefully I get a job soon so I can start working on getting out of debt. I wish it wasn’t so hard but atleast I learned my lesson sooner than later. CREDIT CARDS ARE EVIL! Luckily I only have one.}

I’m sure I’ll add more to the list later but its all apart of my re-designing Mich. I hope you’ll stick around and learn with me while I make some major changes.

Gardner Village

Hey ya’ll Barbie Jean is back and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I have missed her all summer while she moved back home to Texas. It’s kind of funny to hear her stories because they are very similar to mine. Sorry to say that not all of them have been happy, but it’s good to know that we have been through the same things so we don’t feel like we are alone. This past week she and her family invited me to go with them to Gardner Village for a little bit of fun. Barb and I did what we do best…Pictures… You may think we are conceded (and we are), but really we just love pictures. It was a fabulous day and I just love her. So glad that she is back.

ps what do you think of the new bangs?

Pioneer Day Party

Every year for the 24th of July, my family and the Wagstaff’s put on a huge party to celebrate the day the pioneers came to Utah. This year was no different. Tracy rented machines from work (the p.l.), so once again there was snow cones, cotton candy, and pop corn. The water fight was epic this year. There were a ton of people and somehow I escaped getting soaked, but you don’t hear me complaining. Later that night we had a fantastic BBQ which is always a favorite. Something new that apparently started last year while I was in Europe, was a dance party. It was all super fun… good to be home and to see old friends.

 Filling up water Balloons

 Maren and Teegan got a brand new baby sister,
this weekend so they came to play with us
while mommy and daddy went to the hospital.

 Silly - but I had no idea water balloons could weigh so much

 To keep the kids away from the water
balloons before the party started
we turned on the sprinklers...
they didnt seem to mind much.

 Snow Cone Machine : Grape, Tigers Blood, or Peach
Cotton Candy and Popcorn

 I think they each had at least 3 snow cones.

 Epic Water Fight

 Lots of Good Friends
